 In Loving Memory Of
  Linda N. Salazar

Co-Founder | Servant Leader | Heart of Sunglo

1958  -  2019

Linda, was more than a founder of Sunglo Home Health Services, Inc.—she was its heart, its prayer warrior, and its living example of compassionate service.

““But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!”
‭‭Job‬ ‭19‬:‭25‬-‭27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Born in 1958 to Juan and Olivia Noyola, Linda was the youngest of eight siblings and carried with her a deep sense of humility, resilience, and devotion to family. She married her husband, Ruben Salazar, in 1982 and together they built a blended family of six children—whom she lovingly referred to as her “brood.” Family was always central to Linda’s life, and that same fierce love extended into every space she occupied.

In 1987, during a season of uncertainty and unemployment, Ruben and Linda took a step of faith and founded Sunglo Fellowship Centers in Harlingen as an adult day care program. As the needs of their participants grew beyond daytime services and into medical care at home, Linda recognized a calling: care should follow the patient. In 1989, that calling became Sunglo Home Health Services, Inc.

Though Linda did not hold a formal college degree, her leadership, intuition, and unwavering faith enabled her to grow Sunglo into a multi-county organization serving communities across South Texas. She was deeply proud of the team that helped build Sunglo, but even more proud of the ministry that lived within its walls.

Linda’s faith in Jesus Christ shaped everything she did. Baptized at the age of eight, her relationship with God deepened throughout her life and became the foundation of Sunglo’s culture. She instituted daily prayer at work—an enduring practice that continues more than 20 years later. Her door was always open. Business matters, personal struggles, moments of crisis—none were too small or too large. If someone needed prayer, she stopped and prayed, often gathering others to join her.
She was bold in her faith, unashamed of the Gospel, and deeply passionate about sharing hope. Linda believed that work could be sacred, that care was not transactional, and that serving others was an act of obedience and love.

Beyond her professional life, Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to 19 grandchildren—one of her greatest joys. Her laughter filled rooms, her generosity met real needs, and her love was sacrificial and tangible. She prayed, she gave, she showed up.
Linda Salazar passed away in 2019, but her legacy remains woven into every part of Sunglo.

The values she lived—faith, compassion, dignity, perseverance, and service—continue to guide the organization today under the leadership of her daughter, CEO Kristy Evans.

Linda did not seek recognition or acclaim. She sought faithfulness.

Her life stands as a testament to a simple truth she lived daily:
Care is sacred. Love is active. And light, once lit, continues to shine.

Still shining.
Still serving.
Still believing.
